Finding your way is a completely new experience on iPad. Tap to view locations from above with high-resolution satellite imagery, up close with street view, by topography with a new terrain view, and in map view — all using Google services. Drag your finger up to lift the corner of the map, and you can switch between views. iPad with Wi-Fi finds your location using known Wi-Fi hotspots, and Wi-Fi + 3G models use Wi-Fi, GPS, and cellular towers. So you can get routes, get directions, and get there in no time.

 

A smarter way to search.

It’s easy to search for nearby restaurants or landmarks on iPad. But what if you don’t know the name of the place you’re looking for? Say you’re in a new neighborhood and you want to find a restaurant. Type “restaurants” in the search field. All the closest restaurants will appear as pins around your location. Tap a pin to see a restaurant’s name. Touch and hold to see it in street view so you’ll recognize it. Maps even gives you directions and a route from where you are.

It’s like you’re standing on the street.

Visit your location before you arrive with street view. Tap to see a street-level image of where you’re headed, along with driving or walking directions. Zoom in on the image and you’ll feel like you’re right in front of it. Zoom out to explore the neighborhood.
